Social Analytics in an Enterprise Context: From Manufacturing to Software Development

    Get PDF
Although customers become more and more vocal in expressing their experiences, demands and needs in various social networks, companies of any size typically fail to effectively gain insights from such social data and to eventually catch the market realm. This paper introduces the Anlzer analytics engine that aims at leveraging the "social" data deluge to help companies in their quest for deeper understanding of their products' perceptions as well as of the emerging trends in order to early embed them into their product design phase. The proposed approach brings together polarity detection and trend analysis techniques as presented in the architecture and demonstrated through a simple walkthrough in the Anlzer solution. The Anlzer implementation is by design domain-independent and is being tested in the furniture domain at the moment, yet it brings significant added value to software design and development, as well, through its experimentation playground that may provide indirect feedback on future software features while monitoring the reactions to existing releases

The scope of this thesis was the designing and the development of conversational agents, focusing on establishing long-term human robots relationships. The first part of that thesis was the work on the Facebot, an embodied agent that had a social network both online on Facebook and offline physically. This categorized the whole world of the robot into 3 main sections: online friends, offline friends and friends that live in both worlds. The robot was able to interact with her friends and remember those interactions for future reference. The second part was the designing and implementation of another robot focusing on suggesting movies after the interaction with its friends and users. This robot was strictly online and had another approach from the previous one. The main goal was to describe ontology of the robot’s world, using the semantic web technologies instead of just coding every single detail. The two robots had their own unique capabilities and approaches and we discuss in detail about their architecture and the results of the experiments.Μιχάλης Ν.

A State-of-the-Art Analysis of the Current Public Data Landscape from a Functional, Semantic and Technical Perspective

Open Government Data initiatives and particularly Open Government Data portals have proliferated since the late 2000’s. A comprehensive analysis of the capabilities and potential of these initiatives is currently missing from the recent research literature. In order to address this gap, the paper at hand aims towards analyzing the landscape of Open Governmental Data in the European Union from a functional, semantic and technical perspective. Our research focused on the collection and categorization of an indicative number of public data sources for each of the 27 European Union country-members through investigating their services and characteristics. By modeling and classifying the data sources according to their key attributes, we were able to proceed to their statistical analysis and assessment in terms of their content, licensing, multilingual support, acquisition, ease of access, provision and data format. Our results portray the current quality of Public Sector Information infrastructures and highlight what still needs to be done in order to make public data truly open and readily available for researchers, citizens, companies and innovation in general

Enterprise Collaboration Framework for Managing, Advancing and Unifying the Functionality of Multiple Cloud-Based Services with the Help of a Graph API

Part 5: Service Orientation in Collaborative NetworksInternational audienceNowadays, the proliferation of cloud-based services (CBS) has revolutionized the way people communicate, connect, share and eventually conduct business. Large and small and medium enterprises often adapt to this era by providing their core competence through an API. The present paper aims at describing a solution that manages, advances and unifies the functionality of the various CBS under a common framework that is being developed as a coherent graph API. Since the task of handling the evolution and complexity of the CBS API lifecycle is high, the framework is accompanied by a tool that creates a community of enterprises and developers actively engaged both in the usage of the Generic Graph APIs, but also in the update and improvement of these initial APIs
